Shipping to the States

Hi my friends, it is time for a little PSA by the CEO of Trytobead.

As you all know, by August 29 the de minimis regulation in the US for worldwide shipments is ending.
Ever since there is an entire tzunami of concern, wild speculations, numbers, partial misinformation and warnings floating our lives. So here my two pennies about the issue:
So far, shipments below 800USD were flying under the radar and were not handled by the customs.

What does this mean?
For me as a german company, there will be a tariff of 15% on the goods that you buy from me and that you have to pay when you receive the packages, plus a transaction fee that the provider takes. That is something around 8.50 USD per package for USPS.
So far so good.
I deliver through USPS (which helps me to provide you with very reasonable shipping costs), I was checking how things are handled there.
The prices above are valid, as long as the package is documented and labeled properly (electronic information, correct Tariff numbers /HS codes , value of the package and so on)
I ship worldwide for a couple of years and there are many counties that never had a de minimus regulation, so all this is not new to me.
However, it is new to USPS and a severe workload is coming their way.
Therefore, when the de minimis regulation was dropped for products from china in may, they shortly stopped all shipments but then took up again after a day because they were aware that the backup of goods might be worse.
Now China is one country and the rest of the world is a bit more. So there are different things going around like the 80 to 200 USD flat rate.
To my information, this only applies, when there is something wrong with the labeling of the package or suspicious or whatsoever. Everything I read about that is quite arbitrary right now and even Chat GPT says there is no clear answer to how things will go in september.
I think some officials wait to see if the plans get changed on short notice again, before they put too much effort into the structures. However, I need a guideline for myself now:
SUMMARY:
I will keep regular shipments to the States on hold after August 15. Every norder that came in until now, was just shipped. I will do last shipments tomorrow morning. The goods should be through the customs before August 29.

When things are finalized and the dust is settled, I will either ship again through USPS or find another carrier (probably more expensive) to ship.

If you totally insist and say "whatever I don't give a flying poopadoodle", I can ship to you but that would be at your risk.

Meanwhile I will stock up the beading technique videos on youtube, develop some new workshops for next year, and if you want to help me keep things running, fetch a pattern or two that you fancy and go on beading!
